Our girls are our focus, the driving force behind everything we do. We encourage each and every girl to be the best that she can be and we have the expertise to equip her to excel. We do not recognise stereotypes of any kind. We embrace each and every individual’s unique talents, skills and ambitions.

We’re paving the way for a future where girls smash stereotypes. There are no limits to what NGHS girls achieve through school and beyond. Regardless of background, gender, race or individual development needs, we empower NGHS girls to carve their own, exciting path in life.

A supportive family

As part of the GDST, our girls are part of a unique and powerful support network of 26 schools (24 independent schools, two academies) and over 100,000 alumnae from a diverse and exciting set of backgrounds, professions and experiences. Every member of the family supports and empowers each other.

Smashing stereotypes for a new style of education

We are in exciting times and NGHS is an exciting place to be. Equipping the female leaders of the future matters now more than ever before. We’re opening doors so girls realise their brilliance in their own unique way – a first class education for the modern world.

An undivided community supporting diversity and inclusion

At NGHS and across our wider GDST family, we are committed to supporting each and every person. As part of this commitment, we are engaged in an important journey to make a real and tangible difference to racial equality.

Our staff are engaged in a series of training programmes to continue to develop our awareness and understanding of issues affecting people of all ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.

We have a number of clubs and discussion groups for our girls, staff and parent community to discuss experiences relating to race and are working together to learn, develop and make changes.

Across our whole school, from Nursery to Sixth Form, we are reviewing our curriculum, extra curricular opportunities and pastoral care to ensure that our girls are inspired by a wide range of role models, celebrate the diversity of our community and develop an understanding and empathy that goes with a balanced education.

  • How does Nottingham Girls prepare its girls for future success?

    With no gender stereotypes in this school, girls learn how capable they can be when they can take every leadership role, study every subject and have all the parts in school productions and on all the sports teams. They are given all the opportunities to succeed in life, by building confidence, resilience and compassion for others. 

    She’ll have unlimited opportunities to learn, grow and succeed in science, sport, languages, technology, humanities and the arts, achieving the GCSE and A Level results she needs for life after school. 

    With tailored, personalised 1-1 support from our dedicated careers team, she will have all the support she needs in the run up to choosing her GCSE and A Level options, and completing her UCAS form for a university place or an apprenticeship. She’ll also have plenty of access to interview practice, work experience and mentoring from staff, parents and our extensive alumnae network. 

    Once she leaves school, the support doesn’t stop. She’ll also have access to one of the world’s largest all female alumna networks through the GDST which will give her support and opportunity throughout her lifetime.

  • What values underpin education at Nottingham Girls?

    Our mantra is “No girl is left behind”; every teacher will get to know her individually, to challenge her academically, support her with care and attention, and show her all the opportunities she needs to thrive. We will understand her abilities and where she needs help to grow, and we’ll ensure whatever she chooses to focus on, she’ll have the right support to pursue her dreams.

  • How does Nottingham Girls support student wellbeing and personal development?

    Wellbeing is built into everything we do. We don’t just rely on a single person, department or building to support our students; every member of staff is trained to support every girl. We encourage our students to be open and honest about their feelings, support each other and promote positive mental health through many wellbeing activities and events. We also have a full time paediatric nurse on site, a school counsellor, and Mental Health first aiders, and we signpost external support as needed. Every year, a team of Year 7 students become Mental Wellness Ambassadors through the Peer Education Project run by the Mental Health Foundation, and our Sixth Form Prefect Team run a multitude of events every term to support their younger peers. 

  • Can I see the school in action before applying?

    Yes of course, we would always recommend you visit any school before applying to meet the Head and staff, see the facilities and make sure it’s the right place for your child. Your daughter can also spend the day with us, taking part in lessons and activities and making new friends.
